This position is new at the STVHCS and a great opportunity tocontribute toan excellentRenal transplantprogram at the facility. Primary duties will be with renal transplant patients but some general Nephrology responsibilities will be required.
Responsibilities include clinical and teaching/supervision of residents.
Clinical (60% of time):
Two orthree half dayoutpatient clinics per week.One half day clinic each week will be a teaching clinic. New patient appointments are scheduled for1 hourand follow up appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.
Typical procedures include:Transplant follow up, pre-transplant evaluation of recipients and donors, transplant kidney biopsies, and general nephrology procedures.
Teaching/Supervision of residents (20%-40% of time): Practitioners are expected to show effectiveness in teaching, monitor and coordinate educational activities, and comply with necessary trainee supervision.
Research Duties Physician researchers will show an ability to identify and define significant research and developmental problems, to plan and execute a precise research program, and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication.
25 hours per week, actual hours are negotiable witha flexible schedulebut performed 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
On Call requirements: 4-12 weeks per year.
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Certifiedand/ortrained in Renal Transplantor currently enrolledin an accredited transplanttraining program.
Experience Teaching/Evaluating trainees in Residency or Fellowship Program.
Active adult patient care duties inclinical transplant nephrology and general nephrology within the last 2 years.
Evidence of some form of scholarly and research activity (Poster/Meeting Presentation/Educational Lectures/Equivalent)
