The neuroimaging community at Temple University is a growing and diverse group. In support of this community, the university has built the Temple University Brain Research and Imaging Center (TUBRIC), a research-dedicated neuroimaging facility that houses a new Siemens Prisma 3-Tesla MRI scanner. The primary focus of the Center is to support behaviorally-motivated neuroimaging research, with both neurotypical and clinical populations.
We are immediately seeking a qualified candidate to fill our Supervisor of Neuroimaging full-time staff position. Reporting to the Director, and taking occasional direction from the Center’s Physicist, the Supervisor of Neuroimaging will work with the Center’s administrative staff to contribute to the day to day operations. S/he will supervise scanner operation, perform scans when needed, oversee safety and user training, and maintain the scanner and ancillary equipment. The Supervisor will consult with researchers regarding the collection, analysis and quality of data using TUBRIC’s scientific equipment, and act as a liaison to investigators.
As the user base becomes more familiar with operations, the Supervisor of Neuroimaging will expand his/her role to include aspects of data management and processing, development of a standing subject pool, consulting with investigators on design issues, and may have the opportunity to write grants and advance an independent program of research. The Supervisor will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*A basic understanding of human subjects experimentation *A working knowledge of MRI methods, especially those related to functional brain imaging *Ability to screen subjects for MRI contraindications *Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills *Ability to establish, maintain and communicate operational procedures *Strong supervisory skills and ability to monitor the performance of others and provide feedback *The ability to work in a dynamic environment and problem solve in real-time using good judgment *Strong IT skills relevant to the processing, storage, and sharing of MRI data *Strong data collection, analysis and quality assurance skills *Ability to install and maintain hardware and software used for stimulus presentation and behavioral measures in neuroimaging experiments. *The ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and research subjects *Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite *Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends based on business needs
Preferred: *Master’s degree in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, physics or related field and at least two years of post-degree experience or a Ph.D. in one of the aforementioned fields. *Flexibility and expertise to support research across a variety of content areas, and to help users to track and deploy advances in neuroimaging data collection and analysis. *Evidence of successful teaching of MRI methods at the graduate and/or undergraduate level. *Involvement in prior sponsored research projects using MRI methods. *Demonstrated skills in MRI pulse sequence programming. *Evidence of an independent research program. *Knowledge and experience with EEG, TMS, and/or tDCS.
