UNC HIRING BENIGN GYN ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for a fixed-term faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor.
The APP will work independently as the primary consultant to women in need of care for a variety of GYN conditions. He/she will actively work with the UNC Hospitals inpatient GYN services, primarily the Benign GYN Team and, at times, collaborating with the GYN Oncology Team. Primary responsibilities will be working as an active clinical partner in patient management with the Attending of the Week and the Consult Resident on the Benign GYN Team and will focus on running the GYN In-Patient Service, In-House GYN Consultation, and Emergency Room GYN Consultation services. Procedural work will also be part of the position, including circumcisions and other necessary procedures performed by the generalist OB-GYN service. The role of the APP will also include consultative care and appropriate ambulatory care follow-up in the outpatient setting.
There will be active opportunities to both learn and teach with the team, as well as to provide patient education in the course of clinical care. There will also be opportunities to provide education to residents as they rotate on the In-Patient GYN/In-Patient Consult/ED GYN Consult services.
The work schedule for this position will be a 40-hour week, Mondays through Fridays, hours may vary. There is no call or weekend work for this position. There will be somecross-coverage on the GYN Oncology consult service when the APP on that service is on vacation, etc. However, the primary assignment will be on the Benign GYN service.
Educational Requirements: A Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant is required.
Qualifications and Experience: Prior experience in an in-patient &/or outpatient OB-GYN care setting or an inpatient surgical care setting is preferred, but not required. Fluency in Spanish is also preferred, but not required.
Special Physical and Mental Requirements: The successful applicant must be physically and mentally fit to actively work in the inpatient setting with patients who present with a variety of OB-GYN issues and concerns.
