The hospital administrator for Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital (MEH) is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and management of the day to day activities of the hospital. S/he will achieve successful growth by creating an environment of excellent clinical quality and exceptional customer/patient satisfaction to meet and exceed organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and values of the SouthEast Alaska Health Consortium (SEARHC). The hospital administrator will work collaboratively with the MEH medical director and the primary care team (medical director, primary care and director, practice management) to ensure that patient care is efficiently provided throughout the consortium. Duties include oversight of financial performance, medical staff relations, quality improvement, planning, human resources management, short term housing and compliance with SEARHC and all regulatory directives and requirements. As SEARHC continues to pursue significant growth initiatives, the scope of this role may expand to include additional locations.
The administrator for Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital will be an experienced hospital administrator with a track record of achieving high levels of operating performance. S/he will have successfully pursued substantial quality improvement efforts with emphasis on process redesign, raising efficiencies and effectiveness while holding people accountable for the achievement of specific goals and objectives. The hospital administrator will have a system mindset, aligning strategic initiatives for Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital with the broader goals of SEARHC and partnering closely with leaders throughout the system to further system performance. S/he will also work closely with providers to ensure the delivery of best-in-class clinical care. This executive will have broad knowledge of the fundamentals of hospital organization and administration; as well as legislation and regulation applicable to healthcare and major healthcare functions.
Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital or healthcare system
Five of more years of experience leading a critical access hospital, or equivalent leadership roles in a rural environment
Experience managing across the continuum of care. Nursing home experience and license would be a plus
Track record of developing new/growing existing clinical services
Experience leading a successful turnaround. MEH has strong financial results, but experience improving performance in a resource-constrained environment would be beneficial.
Master’s degree in Business, Hospital/Health Administration or Public Administration
