ResponsibilitiesActing as an expert resource/consultant, the Infection Control Professional/Epidemiologist contributes to the provision of high quality patient care by promoting and implementing infection prevention and control practices and compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Through interdisciplinary and collaborative actions, evaluates and assists with the determination of proper care and planning related to infection prevention and control; participates in the identification, prevention, and control of infections by data collection, surveillance and analysis, development of verbal and written reports, educational programs for personnel and patients as needed. Serves as a liaison with the Department of Health Services and reports communicable diseases as required. Participates in research on infection control issues related at the local and departmental levels. Assists hospital departments in preparations for accreditation and licensure surveys in both the acute and ambulatory care areas as well as other regulatory standard reviews (e.g., Cal-OSHA, DHS, etc).
QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, or a related field; Master's degree preferred A minimum of 3 years of clinical/healthcare experience, with 2 years of infection control experience Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Knowledge of microbiology, patient care practices, epidemiology, and occupational health Expertise in regulatory, licensing, and professional clinical guidelines Strong leadership experience and excellent communication skills
