OverviewAbout the Organization ResponsibilitiesThe Telemetry Technician shall be responsible for observing electrocardiograms of monitored patients; noting and documenting rate and rhythm, and notifying registered nurse immediately of changes to ensure appropriate follow-up and/or intervention Provides cardiac monitor observation.Prepares documentation related to the care of cardiac monitored patients.Maintains awareness of rhythm/rate changes, documents a rhythm strip at time of change.Notifies registered nurse immediately of changes in the heart rate or rhythm, and notes the time that the nurse was made aware.Mounts follow-up strip after intervention completedDuring code situation, continuously documents ECG code strips and mounts all appropriate strips at the conclusion of the codeNotes activity/symptoms on rhythm stripMounts and identifies any recorded strip including patient name, room number, PR interval, QRS width, QT interval, lead placement, signature and title.Never leaves the monitor area unattendedPerforms all other duties and responsibilities as necessary QualificationsEducation: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment preferred. Licenses/Certificates: AHA BLS certification required. Telemetry Certification Course or equivalent experience preferred. If no previous course, successful completion of telemetry course required.
