Bed Placement Coordinator - VCH Access Services - Night Shift
Your Role:
Coordinates the assignment of beds for all patient admissions in order to balance the access demands of various departments and facilitate effectual throughput. Coordinates all components related to the initial admission,transfer, or consult of critical and non-critical patients into the accepting facility from referring hospitals, clinics, and physician offices with some guidance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as the first escalation point for patient/provider concerns or to provide guidance to ensure accurate execution of customer requests.
- Ensures accuracy in answering questions and assisting customer with requests to meet their needs.
- Creates specific surgery schedule from the operative report, prioritizing by patient time of anticipated surgery completion.
- Educates nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff in level of care and bed placement issues

- Maintains current and accurate information in bed management systems, along with reporting tools related to capacity.
- Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements, policies, and quality initiatives; monitors self-compliance and implements process changes to ensure compliance to such regulations and quality initiatives.
- Coordinates patient admissions to identify best available bed placement at the time of request, given patient needs, staffing resources, level of care requirements, infection control principles and throughput goals.
- Identify, trend, and report barriers to patient flow and throughput. Make recommendations for improving processes and systems.

Position Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and 4 years relevant experience
Position Shift:
Mon - Friday Night Shift (7p - 7a)
