JOB TITLE: Nursing Assistant LOCATION: Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital DEPARTMENT: Float Pool WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards. Functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN). Directly reports to the Operations Manager. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates basic math skills. Demonstrates the ability to keep current with unit and organizational communication, i.e., read email, read minutes, bulletin boards, attends staff meetings, and performance improvement activity. Demonstrates how to turn the computer off and on, basic navigation in a windows environment, and passwords and security. Accesses the Info web and internet, uses basic browser functionality, and understands policy on Internet usage. Demonstrates the ability to compose, send and read emails, understands email functionality and conventions related to replying. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion role orientation and competencies required. Previous experience in patient care, physical therapy, EKG or respiratory therapy health care preferred. Continuing education and in-service programs required. BLS certification required. Adult and pediatric dual skill base required upon completion of orientation. Requires the ability to care for adult and pediatric patients. Requires the flexibility to potentially change patient and/or unit assignments on a frequent basis. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
