The Med/Surg Oncology Unit RN at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is a 28 Bed unit whom cares for adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical oncology needs including; but not limited to administering chemotherapy, complications of cancer therapy, surgical interventions and remote tele patients.In addition to oncology patients, this unit will see a variety of medical and surgical conditions.
About this position:
This position works 48 hours every two weeks
8 hour shifts on rotating day and evening shifts
Every other weekend
Opportunity to pick up shifts
Unit supported by nursing assistant or NST on all shifts
The registered nurse is responsible for providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards, professional practice guidelines and MN Nurse Practice act. The nurse will have an essential role in coordinating care with physicians, care coordinators, patients, and families and delegates responsibilities as appropriate. Epic is used for computerized medical records charting. The RN on this unit will assist with end of life care.
Must have work experience as an RN
MN RN licensure by start date
BLS for health care providers
Excellent critical thinking skills
Strong communication skills both in person and via phone/emails
Comfortable using computers
Must be able to work in a team environment and able to delegate
BSN or willingness to obtain in near future
RN work experience in an acute or sub-acute setting
Experience working in a team and delegating
Experience working in a support role (if no experience as an RN) NA, PCA, NST or similar
Familiarity with EPIC
Excellent customer service
Must be adaptable to an ever changing environment and practice on-stage and off-stage behaviors consistently.
