Birmingham VA Healthcare System is recruiting for temporary registered nurses for a new Outpatient COVID screening unit. These nurses will assist with outpatient COVID testing and assist screeners with veteran's clinical needs in the clinic setting as well as provide drive up testing for scheduled testing for procedural clearance and those requiring testing for diagnostic purposes. 3 positions for the Huntsville CBOC and 5 positions for the Birmingham VAMC and Birmingham Annex. ***May require working in outdoor drive up testing site wearing full PPE. Physical exam is required due to the required walking, standing, and requirement to be able to wear PPE to include N95 masks for extended period of time.*** The registered nurse will provide day to day assistance for testing and facility entrance screening personnel and operations Educates patients and visitors on COVID19 screening questions and testing Performs nasal swapping for COVID19 testing following infection control guidelines/practice Completes all necessary laboratory paperwork and charting in the electronic medical record Manages schedule for the drive up and park testing and scheduled outpatient testing unit Supports and enhances client self-determination. Serves as a resource for clients and staff in addressing ethical issues. Works collaboratively with the nurse manager in the management of patient care and programs. Interacts with patients and responds immediately to any expressions of concern about care. Conducts initial informal review of patient complaints or incidents related to screening station Effectively assists the nurse manager in managing unit resources which results in decreased waste, improved efficiencies and/or decreased liabilities while maintaining or enhancing care and practice. Assists screeners with any clinical issue that arises during screening process at both Birmingham Annex and Medical Center Work Schedule: The positions for Huntsville CBOC hours will be 0730-1700 with staggered shifts. The positions for Birmingham will be vary from 0600-1800. All positions will be Monday through Friday Financial Discloser Report: Not required
