The VISN 20 Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO) in the Office of the Network Director collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility, network and national levels. S/he works closely with nursing leadership, utilization management staff, staffing methodology coordinators, patient flow/bed management coordinators and clinical staff at each site. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides oversight of eight (8) facilities and over 40 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and other outreach clinics that span four states related to these programs. Administratively responsible to the VISN 20 Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) who reports to the Network Director and works closely and collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Quality Management Officer, Patient Safety Officer, High Reliable Officer, Human Resources and other clinical and administrative staff within the VISN at facilities and at VACO. Demonstrates leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care within VISN 20 Participates at the senior management level within the VISN in overall planning and VISN management activities. Participates in the VISN 20 Governance Board, Board of Directors, Healthcare Delivery Committee, and the Nurse Executive Committee. Will also Co-Chair and/or be a member of other programmatic/service committees at the VISN level. Makes recommendations regarding the development of goals, objectives and policies involving healthcare operations and delivery for the Network. Work with the Office of Nursing Services on all nursing related issues. Contributes to the development of marketing strategies in collaboration with the VISN Executive Leadership Team and marketing experts. Provides program oversight, direction, coordination and leadership in all nursing performance activities and other clinical healthcare programs under his/her direction throughout the VISN, including Sterile Processing Service (SPS).
