How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans? As a Licensed Practical/ Vocational Nurse (Charge Nurse), you will function as a member of the nursing team and assist the registered nurse (RN) in the care of patients in acute, subacute, or chronic states of illness. Your duties will include but, are not limited to: functioning independently as the charge nurse for the shift with responsibility for the care provided to the community living center Veterans by other licensed and non-licensed nursing staff; assisting the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team with providing input in the development of the care plan, based on Veterans care needs; performing support duties for diagnostic procedures; assisting with discharge planning; coordinating the transfer of Veterans to more appropriate level of care dependent on acuity needs; administering prescribed medications; performing complex treatments; monitoring bladder and bowel functioning; tracking I&O and hydration; performing rehabilitative and restorative nursing care; evaluating unit for safety issues and taking appropriate action when necessary; and certifying correctness with licensed staff in narcotic medication count. Work Schedule: 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Including weekend and holiday rotations) Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over; pushing; reaching above shoulders; use of fingers; use of both hands required; walking 8 hours; standing 8 hours; repeated bending; climbing legs only; both legs required; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; both eyes required; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); emotional stability; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. May be required to work with assaultive or combative patients.
