A recruitment/relocation incentive is NOT authorized for this position. The VISN 12 TCS Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager (NM). The primary focus of this position is to provide education, training, and proficiency validation to Nursing and Medical Support Assistant (MSA) staff to promote high-quality services in the VISN 12 Clinical Contact Center. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). This position works directly with the VISN 12 TCS Leadership team, consisting of the Chief Nurse,· Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Managers and the MSA Supervisor, as well as the VISN 12 TCS RNs, MSAs and Licensed Independent Providers. This position requires expertise to perform clinical triage and the ability to effectively develop, implement, coordinate, and sustain a comprehensive education and training program for nursing staff; including virtual care modalities. The Nurse Educator will create and maintain an initial and ongoing competency validation program and work in collaboration with the VISN 12 TCS Leadership team to identify and address nursing practice issues and other education needs. He/She serves as a mentor, preceptor, and demonstrates the effective use of a variety of teaching tools and educational modalities. The Nurse Educator will collaborate with other service lines and program offices to provide interdisciplinary training to improve efficient and effective patient-centered care. He/She will ensure staff awareness of changing policies, practices, goals, accreditation standards, and requirements by incorporating content into educational curriculum. In collaboration with the VISN 12 TCS Leadership team, the Nurse Educator will create a positive work environment and promote diversity and inclusion to enhance professional development and care delivery. He/She will demonstrate the ability to lead and direct diverse and dynamic groups of staff in the delivery of safe and effective patient care. The Nurse Educator applies clinical skills necessary to identify, coordinate and/or identify discipline-specific education, as well as training, leadership, professional staff development and emerging needs to all levels of staff. The Nurse Educator participates in the development, review and revision of the Nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance; supports implementation of these policies, actively contributes to performance measures for the VAMC, VISN and VHA. Assurance is made for ongoing readiness with regulatory bodies/agencies both internal and external to VHA, all while ensuring the ANA code of Ethics for Nurses is followed.
