The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO is currently accepting applications for one (1) full-time, Registered Nurse for our Safe Patient Handling Coordinator. Our facility is a Level-3 Complexity medical center comprised of a 38-bed CLC, 10-bed Acute Care unit, and 7-bed Urgent Care Clinic. Provides orientation and training, on-going training by assessing staff's learning needs, competency assessment, and provides oversight of all aspects of the facility's SPHM program (Unit Peer Leader Program, regulatory requirements, equipment, bariatrics, etc). Review and apply current research/evidence to educational offerings, developing and utilizing evaluative systems to determine the effectiveness of education programming, participating in developing, interpreting, evaluating, and maintaining practice standards. The SPHMC is a key member on construction projects impacting patient care areas. This position may include other clinical or administrative assignments necessary to meet the mission of John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. The SPHMC has responsibilities at the main campus as well as all Community Based Outpatient Clinics as needed. The SPHMC assumes essential personnel status during emergencies. Clinical backup for the Environment of Care (EOC) service line. Which includes cross training and coverage of Infection Prevention (IP) and Employee and Occupational Health (EOH).
