Northern Arizona VA Health Care System is looking for a Nursing Assistant (NA) to join the Mental Health and Behavioral Science (Domiciliary) team! The Domiciliary NA will have the basic skills to provide care to patients/residents with acute and chronic conditions in a mental health residential setting. *****Failing to submit any documentation that is required and listed under the "Required Documents" tab may result in loss of consideration.***** The duties of the position include but are not limited to: Utilizing glucose monitoring machine to collect and document appropriate glucose readings Maintaining a positive therapeutic relationship by displaying respect for human dignity with residents, families and/or significant others utilizing learned communication skills Assisting with getting hygiene supplies to the Veteran per guidelines Assisting with showering for those who are unable to place shower chair or showering supplies in position (either due to being in wheelchair or using walker or cane) Promoting Veteran independence in personal hygiene care Assisting with data gathering when a patient reports having difficulty urinating or stooling Assisting incontinent residents with skin and incontinence care, while allowing for independence Supporting Recovery Model for residents (sober living) Assisting RNs and LPNs with resident medical treatments within scope of practice Reporting pertinent resident observations to the RN and/or other members of the treatment team Maintaining the dignity of all Veterans and guests Obtaining urine collection for drug screens per Domiciliary Urine Drug Screen (UDS) policy Obtaining urine collections for urinalysis (UA) per station policy Obtaining breathalyzers per Domiciliary Breathalyzer guidelines Documenting in the medical record appropriately per Domiciliary training and competencies Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Position Title/Functional Statement #: Nursing Assistant (Domiciliary)/000000 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
